Rooted in Scripture.
Centered on Christ.
The convictions that guide my teaching, writing, and ministry.
The Bible
The Bible is the inspired Word of God and the final authority for faith and practice. All teaching, experience, and church tradition must be tested by Scripture.
God: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit
There is one God, eternally existing as Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. He is holy, loving, just, and faithful.
Jesus Christ
Jesus Christ is fully God and fully man. He lived without sin, died for our sins, rose bodily from the dead, and reigns as Lord. Salvation is found in Him alone.
Salvation by grace through faith
Salvation is God’s gift of grace, received through repentance and faith in Jesus Christ. God graciously draws and enables people to respond to the gospel. Faith precedes regeneration; salvation cannot be earned by human effort.
Assurance and growth in holiness
Believers are secure in Christ and called to grow in holiness throughout life. Sanctification is the ongoing work of the Holy Spirit as we trust and obey Jesus.
John 10:27–29; Romans 8:38–39; Philippians 1:6; 1 Thessalonians 4:3
The Holy Spirit and His gifts
The Holy Spirit indwells believers, empowers them for service, and gives gifts for the good of the church. His gifts continue today and should be exercised with love and biblical order. No particular gift is required as evidence that a believer has received the Holy Spirit.
Romans 8:9; 1 Corinthians 12:4–11; 1 Corinthians 12:29–30; 1 Corinthians 14:26–33
Baptism and the Lord’s Supper
Baptism by immersion is a public confession of faith in Jesus Christ. The Lord’s Supper is a regular remembrance of His death and a shared participation in the life of His people.
Matthew 28:19–20; Romans 6:3–4; 1 Corinthians 10:16–17; 1 Corinthians 11:23–26
Marriage
Marriage is the covenant union of one man and one woman. Christians are called to faithfulness, purity, and love in their relationships.
Christ’s return and our hope
Jesus Christ will return. The dead will be raised, God will judge the world in righteousness, and His people will dwell with Him forever. My teaching follows an amillennial understanding, while recognizing faithful Christians differ on the details of end-times interpretation.
John 5:28–29; Acts 1:11; 1 Corinthians 15; Revelation 21:1–5
